A celebration of the connections between the arts and the environment in support of Green Calgary

The Event

There is a strong natural affinity between the arts and the environment. This is especially true in Calgary, where many artists draw inspiration from the incredible natural environment around them. Art and design have unique abilities to engage, inspire and move people toward a more sustainable world. This gala is a celebration of local sustainability - a celebration of the connection between art and the environment, showcasing environmentally-themed work by local artists and supporting the great work Green Calgary does to help Calgarians live sustainably.

Green Calgary presents our premiere Red Wine, Blue Cheese, Green Art fundraising gala being held on November 3, 2011. Join us at the Hotel Arts for an evening brimming with fun, creative and thought-provoking elements including locally sourced organic menu, live and silent art auctions, and renowned musical and theatrical talent, all presented in an environmentally inspiring way.

Price: $100 per person, or buy 9 and get one free! (Ticket includes admission to the Green Market)

 Evening Program

 

 6:00PM – Doors open

Silent auction is open for browsing and bidding on art work from local artists using “green” as their inspiration to provoke thought, emotion and discussion.

 

 6:01PM – Entertainment by Green Fools 

Green Fools Theater is a non-profit, charitable society that creates, performs, and teaches physical theatre arts focusing on masks, puppets, and stilts for diverse audiences locally and internationally.


 6:50PM – Opening Remarks by Kristina Groves

Kristina Groves is an Olympic athlete and local sustainability advocate will be the MC for the evening’s event.  See Green Calgary Executive Director Michael Ireton at Kristina's recent "Bed-In for Sustainability"


 7:00PM – Entertainment by Sans Facon 

Sans Facon is group of visiting artists from Glasgow, Scotland who are currently working with the City of Calgary to create environmentally themed art. You can read more about this fantastic group here.

 

 7:30PM – Musical guest Kris Demeanor

Kris Demeanor is a songwriter and performer who writes and sings about the funny, dark, absurd, maddening, and the joyful for people who like to think, dance, laugh, cry and party.

 

 8:30PM – Live auction

We are thrilled that we have had some amazing artists that have wonderfully donated some of their work to help raise funds for Green Calgary.

 

 9:30PM -10:30PM – Silent auction closes

The silent auction will begin to close at 9:30pm with continued staggered closing to 10:30pm.

 

 10:30PM – Silent auction ends

 

 11:30PM – Event ends
Throughout the evening there will be a delectable strolling menu featuring local and organic ingredients prepared by Hotel Arts in consultation with Green Calgary.  There will also be a cash bar for the evening’s festivities.
